Before you ask
- Download a backup first. If you own the company, open the profile menu (top right) in GoAI and choose Download a full backup. Once books are deleted they can't be recovered.
- Keep your records. South African law generally requires businesses to keep their accounting records for at least five years. Deleting them from GoAI doesn't change that obligation, so keep the backup safe.
- Just removing a team member? A company's owner can switch off or remove someone's login straight away under Logins & access. No request is needed.
What happens
| You ask to delete | What we do |
|---|---|
| Your login | We remove your name, email address, password and 2-step key. Changes you made in a company's books stay there (they're the company's records) but are no longer linked to you. |
| A company's books | Only the company's owner can ask for this. We delete the company's books, attachments and settings. |
| Everything | Your login, and the books of every company you own. |
We confirm the request with you by email first, to make sure it really comes from you. We then delete from the live system within 30 days of confirming, and copies in our backups are overwritten within a further 30 days. We keep a short record that the request was made and dealt with, and anything else only where the law requires it. See the Privacy Policy.
